How to Know Jesus

1. Recognize our deep need for God, and that He is pursuing you with His love.

We were created to live in relationship with God. He longs to be a part of our life.

He sent his son, Jesus Christ into the world to answer the deep need we have to

live with Him.

2. Understand that sin separates you from God’s love.

God is a holy God and cannot stand the presence of sin. Sin is our willful

decisions to live a life contrary to God’s will and plan for our lives. When we

chose to live life according to our plan, we walk away from that life-giving

relationship with Him.

Everyone ever born has sinned and is in need of the gift of His salvation. Our sin

will ultimately lead to our death and eternal punishment.

We cannot work our way back to God or earn his love.

3. God offers us salvation through the death and resurrection of His son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ died in our place. He took our sins upon himself and died that we

might be free from sin and death.

Jesus offers us a new way of life that is characterized by inner peace, by

freedom, by eternal life, and by a personal relationship with God.

4. If we repent, and ask God for His forgiveness, He will willingly and freely offer us His salvation.

While salvation is free, we must acknowledge our need of God’s saving grace.

We must be sorry that our sin has separated us from God. We must confess our

sins to him in prayer. We must repent – literally to “change our mind” about our

sin and be willing to turn our back on our life of sin.

We must be willing to have our lives changed by Christ.

He promises that He will forgive us of our sins and give us new life!

5. We must place our trust in God and receive this free gift of His salvation.

This gift is just that, a gift. We must believe that what God has said He will do, He

will, in fact, do for us.

You can have the joy that comes through salvation and a relationship with God

right now!

Will you pray this prayer?

Lord Jesus, I want the gift of your salvation. I know that I have

sinned against you. I need your forgiveness. I believe that you died

and rose again for my sins. I now accept your forgiveness and ask

you to become my personal Savior. I will turn away from my life of

sin. I know that you will enable me to live for you.

Thank you, Jesus, for saving me and for giving me a brand new life.

6. We must begin to grow in our walk with God.

We grow in our walk with him by:

Praying daily and in all the circumstances of our life

Reading the bible regularly to allow God to speak to us

Regularly attending worship services and bible studies to grow in our walk

and be encouraged by other believers

Find a church home that will encourage you in your walk and challenge

you to grow deeper each day.
