Frequently Asked Questions of people visiting MCN

What kind of greeting will I receive?

When you enter the church, you can expect a warm greeting from our greeters and other of MCN family. In our foyer, we have coffee and light snacks for all who would like them. You will be handed a visitors packet with some important information and a response card. We would love to have you fill that card out, hand it to a greeter, or drop it in the offering plate. In the week following your visit, you will receive a note of thanks in the mail. We appreciate your visit and hope you will make MCN your church home!

What is there for my children at MCN?

At MCN we have weekly Sunday School Classes for Children. During morning worship services we have both Cherub Church (ages 3-6) and Children’s Church (children 1st through 6th grades). We have regular children’s activities and hold a summer Vacation Bible School. We also participate and send children to the Mid-Atlantic District Children’s and Tween Camps during the month of August.

Is there a nursery?

YES! We have a nursery that operates during the morning worship services. It is staffed by wonderful and caring people who love children, pray for them by name, and provide excellent care.

Are your Children’s Workers background checked?

All of our volunteers are background checked through the clearinghouse. The safety of our children is a primary focus at MCN.

Is there a specific dress?

Our lead pastor wears a jacket and tie from Labor Day through Memorial Day and open collar shirts throughout the summer.

How long are worship services?

Typically our services last 90 minutes. They begin at 10:50 AM and last until approximately 12:15 PM.

Is there Sunday School?

Yes, we have Sunday School for all ages beginning at 9:30 AM each Sunday morning.

What is worship like?

We worship the Lord through prayer, through testimony, through giving, through the spoken word, through sacrament, and through music. There is something for everyone in our worship services. Our praise team is made up of men and women who glorify God with their talents. We sing traditional hymns, praise choruses, and contemporary worship music. We have terrific prayer times around our altar where the Body of Christ gather to support those who have burdens and in need of healing. When the Holy Spirit moves, believers offer testimonies of praise to God for his work in their lives. Pastor Art preaches a bible-centered message which encourages, challenges, comforts, and provides hope.

Through music,we hope to accomplish two things: worship our great God and lead our people into doing the same. We do this by seeking to play music that is true, good and beautiful, choosing and leading songs that are aesthetically pleasing but that also teach our people the truth of the scriptures, who God is and what He has done in Jesus Christ.

Are you going to make me stand up and be recognized?

Nope! We don’t do anything to make someone feel odd or uncomfortable!

Are you going to ask me for money?

At MCN, we believe that the giving of money to God is an act of worship and thanksgiving. Because God has so richly blessed us, we return a portion of that abundance to him. No one is forced to give anything. We want our giving to be done with a cheerful heart. If you are so led, Yes! Please worship God in this way. If you are not led, that is fine! Enjoy the worship experience and connect with God in a meaningful way!

This is a place where God meets people who aren’t perfect, and not matter where you are on your personal spiritual journey, you are absolutely welcome here.
